News Home Inspectors Can Use: October 2013 Edition

Fall has fallen and so have a boatload of home inspection events. Here’s how to get educated, get connected and get back in business:

* THE major event hitting the home inspection scene this month is the 2013 Las Vegas Inspection Conference. Slated for October 20 through 24 in Sin City, this year’s show includes workshops ranging from amping up your marketing brochures to info on breaking income barriers. Of course you’ll get to play with the latest gadgets and take the standard certification classes too. This year’s conference also includes a live interactive home inspection broadcast where you’ll get to pick up tips from the pros while they’re in the field. Head here for the full schedule.

* If you’re in (or trying to break into) the home remodeling biz, mark your calendars for October 16 through 18 and start looking for airfare to Chicago. The Remodeling Show national trade expo covers everything from building design to project management and provides an excellent opportunity for home inspectors to connect with those in the remodeling biz. A full schedule of NAHB courses is available here. * For our home inspection friends up north, there are events for you too. The CAHPI National Home Inspectors Conference rocks Ottawa, Canada, November 8th through 10th. The one-day conference will cover topics ranging from environmental training to electrical and new construction inspections. Click here to register.

* ASHI is also bringing the home inspection heat this coming November. The Mid-Missouri ASHI Fall Seminar kicks off in Columbia, Missouri November 5th while the St. Louis ASHI Fall Seminar hits the Maryland Heights Community Center November 8th. * Speaking of ASHI, now is the time to get those plane tickets for InspectionWorld. One of the largest home inspection conferences in the country, InspectionWorld hits Nashville, Tennessee January 12th through 15th, 2014. This year’s conference will feature 45 educational sessions, including separate tracks for those who want to bone up on their business management, specialty training or building science skills. September and October are jam-packed with events to get you educated and slammed with new work contacts. Here’s what’s going on in the future of home inspection:

* There are so many real estate conferences going on over the next two months, we don’t have space to list them here. Luckily we don’t have to. The Real Estate Intelligence Report has an extensive list of state realtor conferences happening throughout the nation. Head on over if you’re searching for state-specific realtor conferences or save your pennies to attend the National Association of Realtors Conference from November 6 through 11 in San Francisco. Hillary Clinton is this year’s featured speaker.

* Get ready. The Southeastern Home Inspectors Conference promises classes ranging from Plumbing Hazards to Report Writing and Risk Management. Kicking off September 13 through 15 in Duluth, Georgia, the Conference has a schedule packed with a wide range of inspection workshops and 25 exhibitors.

Here’s what’s going on in the future of home inspection:

* If you missed the North Carolina Licensed Home Inspector Association’s regional conferences in Asheville, NC this past month, don’t worry. There’s another one right around the corner. NCLHIA invades New Bern from August 17 to 18 and Greensboro from August 24 through 25.

 

* Get ready. The Southeastern Home Inspectors Conference promises classes ranging from Plumbing Hazards to Report Writing and Risk Management. Kicking off September 13 through 15 in Duluth, Georgia, the Conference has a schedule packed with a wide range of home inspection workshops, 25 exhibitors and a sweet early bird registration deal to ease the financial burden. Deal ends August 31.

 

* Clear your calendars for October. The 2013 Las Vegas Inspection Conference is slated for October 20 through 24 in Sin City. Environmental issues, infrared, pool-spa inspections, water heaters, roofing—nothing is off the table here. Early bird registration deals end August 20.

Here’s what’s coming up this month in home inspections:

 

  • Home inspection conferences are lighting up the east coast this summer. The North Carolina Licensed Home Inspector Association holds their regional conferences in Asheville, NC from July 27 through 28, New Bern from August 17 to 18 and Greensboro from August 24 through 25.

 

 

  • Save the Date – ASHI announced the dates and location of Inspection World 2014. The mega-inspection conference goes down in Nashville, Tennessee from January 12 through 15. Registration doesn’t open until September 1, but we’ll keep you updated on early bird specials.

News Home Inspectors Can Use: June 2013

Here’s what’s going on in the near future:

* The Florida Association of Building Inspectors (FABI) is back with their annual summer conference, which kicks off June 21 through 23 in Tampa. This year’s conference features approved 10 renewal credits for ASHI and NAHI as well as training for mold inspection, infrared, wind mitigation and a 120-hour pre-licensing course. Registration is available right this way.

* Head to FABI and you may be tempted to stay in Florida for a while. We can provide at least one reason to do so. In July the 2013 NAHI National Education Conference lands in Orlando from the 24th through the 28th. The conference includes 16 technical courses, 13 business courses and the opportunity to slip on over to Universal Studios since the conference will be held at the Doubletree, located right at Universal’s entrance.
