News Inspectors Can Use: May Showers Edition

The busy season is in full effect. We hope you’re staying on top of your work load. Here are a few spots to slip away if you need a break (or continuing education credits).

* It’s too late for an early bird discount, but it’s not too late to get registered for the Building Officials Association of Florida’s 2014 educational conference and trade expo. Landing in Clearwater, Florida June 7th through 12th, the event will include a huge array of classes—we’re talking everything from plumbing to gas piping systems—and will include some built-in time to see the Florida sights.

* Austin, Texas is typically known for its hot weather and cool margaritas, but from June 8 through 12, it will be home to the Texas State Association of Plumbing Inspectors’ annual conference. Group rates at the Holiday Inn Midtown are available with the group code “API.”

* Florida is a hotspot (both literally and figuratively) for inspection conferences. The Florida Association of Building Inspectors kicks off its summer conference June 21 and 22 at the Safety Harbor and Resort Spa in Clearwater. 14 continuing education credits are up for grabs as are workshops on wind mitigation, electrical inspections, Chinese dry wall issues, home inspector ethics, and many more. A full list of conference info is available here. Inspectors can also snap up a sweet hotel discount by mentioning FABI.

* The North Carolina Council of Code Officials also welcomes their 10th Quadrennial Educational Conference August 3 through 6 at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside. Registration is $200 for current inspectors and $100 for retired inspectors if you register before July 18th. To get a hotel discount, make your room reservation before July 2.
