Cha-Ching: Invoicing Apps For Home Inspectors

One feature that we’re working to add to Tap Inspect is invoicing. Our invoicing feature is a while away, but until we’re ready to release it, there are quite a few good (and free) invoicing apps that can help you in the mean time. Here are a few options that are available for the iPhone and iPad.

Invoice ASAP

Screen Shot 2014-01-27 at 4.22.40 AMAvailable for the low, low cost of $0 (to try), Invoice ASAP allows you to build customized invoices, complete with photos and voice memos, that you can e-mail directly to your home inspection clients. One major benefit of Invoice ASAP is that it connects directly with QuickBooks and Xero, which makes generating invoices fast and efficient. A double bonus is that app can be coordinated with multiple users, making it easy for a tag team of home inspectors to add their own notes to each invoice. Available for both the iPhone and iPad, the app is a free download, but that doesn’t include storage space for photos, documents or voice memos. Plans start at $7.99 per month.

Zoho Invoice

Like Invoice ASAP, Zoho offers invoice templates, the ability to accept online payments through your iPhone or iPad and a feature that keeps track of which invoices have been paid and which haven’t. Unlike Invoice ASAP, this free download app also includes a time tracking feature that allows you to monitor exactly how long your home inspection jobs took and how long your employees are spending on site. One reason we like this app is that it also allows you to input any expenses you incurred while doing the job. That makes it easy to create special items on invoices and keep track of exactly how much you’re raking in per job. You can generate invoices for the first five customers for free, but after that, Zoho charges $15 or $30 per month depending on how many invoices you create.

Invoice2Go

The app generates clear, easy to read invoices and syncs nicely between several devices and desktop computers. This app generates both invoices and estimates and integrates with PayPal. Your first three invoices are free and basic packages start at $49 per year (that’s $4.08 per month) after the free trial is over.
