These Tap Inspect Payment Terms apply to customers of Tap Inspect, Inc. (“Tap Inspect,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) who purchase a subscription to our mobile application and/or related services, offered on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) basis through our URL: https://app.tapinspect.com (the “Application”) to provide home inspection services. The Application includes a feature, called Tap Inspect Payments, which allows you to collect your home inspection fees online.

How It Works

Tap Inspect Payments is a payment processing feature we offer in partnership with ProPay (a Global Payments company). Here’s who does what:

ProPay processes the actual transactions, briefly holds funds before they reach Home Inspection Service Providers’ bank accounts, verifies your identity, and handles chargebacks and disputes. ProPay’s ProFac Sub-Merchant Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between you and ProPay. Please read ProPay’s terms and conditions carefully before using Tap Inspect Payments.

Tap Inspect built the feature into its Application so you can set up and manage your ProPay merchant account without leaving Tap Inspect. We are not the payment processor, we never hold funds, and we’re not a party to your agreement with ProPay.

You are ProPay’s merchant under their ProFac terms, and you’re also a sub-merchant under Tap Inspect’s own payment processing relationship with ProPay. Both are true at once: you accept ProPay’s terms directly, and Tap Inspect sits above your account in the processing structure. Practically, that means two things: we’re your first stop for support (see below), and we can be responsible to ProPay for certain amounts tied to your account, which is why the Chargebacks, Fees, and Card Brand Penalties section below matters.

Your clients are the cardholders paying you through this feature.

Because we’re not the processor, we’re not responsible for ProPay’s decisions, including approval or denial of your application, holding or reserves on your funds, chargeback outcomes, or account suspension or termination. Those are between you and ProPay, governed by ProPay’s terms and conditions.

Support for Tap Inspect Payments

Tap Inspect provides first-line (“Tier 1”) support for anything related to Tap Inspect Payments; contact us first at info@tapinspect.com with a question or an issue. If something needs ProPay directly (i.e., an underwriting question, a hold on funds, anything outside what we can resolve), we’ll escalate it to ProPay on your behalf rather than just pointing you to them.

Rates

Current transaction rates and fees for Tap Inspect Payments (card processing rates, the monthly account fee, and fees for things like disputed payments and returned deposits) are published at our help center.

Funds are deposited on a rolling 2-business-day schedule after your client pays.

We don’t currently offer the account updater service (which keeps stored card details current for recurring billing); Tap Inspect Payments is built for one-time inspection fees, not recurring charges.

Processing Limits

Every payment account starts with default per-transaction and monthly processing limits; current figures are published at our help center. A transaction over your per-transaction limit is declined outright. Exceeding your monthly limit doesn’t stop your clients from being able to pay but can trigger a temporary hold on those funds to guard against fraud. You can request higher limits once your merchant account is approved; see Requesting Higher Payments Limits for how.

Your Website and Refund Policy

To use Tap Inspect Payments, you need a functioning, publicly accessible business website that lists your services, includes your contact information, and displays your refund or cancellation policy. This is a card network requirement, not something we’re adding on top; see our help center article for a sample policy you’re welcome to use as a starting point.

Keeping Your Information Current

If your business changes (the type of services you offer, for instance), update it from the action menu on your payments settings page. If you need to change your payout bank account, you can also do that from the same menu; note that ProPay limits payout account changes to once every 90 days. Keep your business address, email, and phone number current as well: ProPay uses your business address for 1099 reporting, and accurate contact information helps us reach you if there’s ever an issue with your account.

If a Client Reports Fraud

If a client reports that their card was used without their permission, or you notice a payment you don’t recognize, email us right away at info@tapinspect.com. We’ll acknowledge your report within 1 business day and coordinate with ProPay as needed. This is separate from, and in addition to, any notice you’re required to give ProPay directly under their terms and conditions.

Chargebacks and Disputes

If one of your clients disputes a charge, ProPay and the card networks handle the actual chargeback process. We’ll work with ProPay on inquiries related to your account and may ask you for documentation or a timely response, but we don’t control or guarantee the outcome of a chargeback. That’s between you, your client, ProPay, and the card networks.

Chargebacks, Fees, and Card Brand Penalties

As a sub-merchant under Tap Inspect’s processing relationship with ProPay, you are responsible for chargebacks, disputed-payment fees, and any card brand penalties tied to the use of Tap Inspect Payments. ProPay will normally collect these directly from your bank account. If ProPay is unable to collect an amount you owe directly (for example, insufficient funds or a closed account), Tap Inspect will collect it from you using the payment method currently on file for your Tap Inspect subscription. By using Tap Inspect Payments, you authorize us to do this. We’ll only use this to recover amounts ProPay couldn’t collect directly; it isn’t a general authorization to charge your subscription payment method for anything else.

Transaction Data

ProPay shares data about your use of Tap Inspect Payments with us. We use it for ordinary business purposes (for example, understanding our own payment processing costs and evaluating our rates with ProPay), not for any ancillary purposes. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture of how we use and disclose your personal information.

Disabling or Closing Your Account

You can disable Tap Inspect Payments anytime from your payment settings: this hides the Pay Now button on your invoices but keeps your merchant account open, so you can re-enable it and start accepting payments again immediately. The monthly account fee still applies while payments are disabled.

Closing your account is different, and permanent. Once you request closure, in-progress payments, transactions, and deposits complete normally, but no new payments or refunds can be processed. You have a 7-day grace period to cancel the closure; after that, it can’t be undone, and you’d need to apply for a new merchant account to use Tap Inspect Payments again. Closing your account stops the monthly account fee. See our help center guides on disabling and closing your account for the full steps.

Closing your account doesn’t end your responsibility for chargebacks, disputed-payment fees, or card brand penalties tied to payments you already processed: the Chargebacks, Fees, and Card Brand Penalties section above continues to apply to those, even after closure.

If You or ProPay End the Relationship

If ProPay terminates your account, or you reject a future change to ProPay’s terms, or you withdraw your consent to do business electronically with ProPay, your payments account will be closed and any remaining funds will be transferred to you. This only affects Tap Inspect Payments; the rest of your Tap Inspect account and subscription continue normally, unless the underlying issue is also a violation of our own Terms of Service.

A Couple of Things That Might Otherwise Be Confusing

ProPay may share information about you with American Express for their own marketing purposes, and Amex may contact you directly, including by text or call. That’s between you and ProPay/Amex under their terms; it isn’t something we initiate or control, and opting out goes through ProPay, not us.

Disputes about the actual processing of a payment (a chargeback, a hold, an account suspension) are governed by ProPay’s terms, which point to Georgia law and arbitration through JAMS. Disputes about the Application generally stay under our Terms of Service. Different agreements, different counterparties; if you’re ever unsure which applies, ask us and we’ll point you the right way.
